Marshwood senior wins mile at New England track and field championship

BOSTON - Marshwood High School senior Henri Rivard placed first in the boys' mile at the New England Track and Field Championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Rivard won with a time of 4 minutes, 22.39 seconds. Rivard was undefeated in Maine this winter, winning both the mile and 800 at the Class A state championship.

Rivard qualified for New Balance Indoor National meet from March 12-15 in Boston.

Also at the New England championship meet, Marshwood's Anna Jennings placed fourth in the long Jump with a school record jump of 18 feet, 7.75 inches.  She also ran the 55, and placed 12th in a time of 7.30, qualifying for the New Balance national meet in both events.

What's more, Marshwood's 4x-800 boys relay team, consisting of Tommie Mannion, Griffin Smith, Jackson Widerstrom,and Paiden Trulock, placed 22nd in a school-record time of 8:35.53. York's Zoe Carroll was fifth in the girls mile in a time of 5:07.28.
