For Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham, it has been a whirlwind past couple of months. He's gone from a player who was firmly in the backup quarterback role, to starting in the AFC Championship Game, to being made the scapegoat for that loss by many within Broncos Country, to now, on the trade block.

There were rumblings that Stidham's name had come up in trade discussions last week, but not much was made of that until Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that several teams have contacted the Broncos about his availability, and it sounds like the team is listening to offers

Stidham will be entering the final year of his contract, but with limited options in free agency this offseason, combined with a weak draft class outside of presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, this is the year where quality backup quarterbacks could be coveted.

As a result, the Broncos could field serious offers from these six teams, at the very least.

6 teams that could make a trade for Jarrett Stidham

Miami Dolphins

It's clear that the Dolphins have no direction at the quarterback position. It is expected by most that the team will move on from former first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa this offseason, taking a massive dead-money hit in the process.

The only quarterbacks currently on the roster for next season, minus Tagovailoa, would be Quinn Ewers and Cam Miller. Stidham could help bridge the gap between this season and next, where the Dolphins could at least take a crack at another quarterback in the draft.

New York Jets

The Jets still have Justin Fields, but he's obviously not the future of the franchise. The Jets would have loved to have the first pick in this year's draft to select Mendoza, but they'll have to settle for No. 2 and they will almost certainly go in another direction besides quarterback with that pick.

It does look like another ugly season on the horizon for the Jets, so just like the situation in Miami, they could bring in a guy like Stidham to have an experienced passer to help navigate those waters. Jets general manager Darren Mougey came from Denver and could take a liking to the idea of getting Stidham on his roster.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have one of the best offenses in the league, but it takes a big hit any time Joe Burrow goes down which unfortunately has been too often.

Joe Flacco is also a free agent this offseason and not expected to be back with Cincinnati. Trading for a polished backup such as Stidham to keep things on track if Burrow suffers another injury makes sense for this team.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Of all the teams on this list, this one might make the most sense. The Steelers don't currently have much of anything in terms of hope on the roster at the quarterback position, unless you believe that either Mason Rudolph or Will Howard is that guy.

Even if the Steelers make the expected move to bring Aaron Rodgers back for another season or go out and sign a guy like Kirk Cousins, Stidham makes sense as a capable backup to help balance a shaky situation.

Indianapolis Colts

After signing the one-year transitional tag, Daniel Jones is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Colts in 2026. However, the team has given permission to former first-round pick Anthony Richardson to seek a trade

While that could be second-year player Riley Leonard, the Colts may opt for more of a sure thing. After all, they had so little faith in Leonard taking over when Jones went down with an injury last season that they brought Philip Rivers back after five seasons without playing.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are going to bring in a veteran quarterback this offseason to push J.J. McCarthy in training camp and perhaps even take the starting job from him. That could be a guy like Cousins or Kyler Murray, but Stidham makes sense, too.

Ahead of his start in the AFC Championship Game, Stidham stated that he knows he can be a starter in this league. He would get no better chance to prove that than if this move were to come to fruition.
