Boston Continues to Build Chemistry

Gotham opened up the first half with several key shots to keep the pressure high on goalkeeper Casey Murphy. With Gotham’s detailed chemistry, it posed early threats for Boston as they looked to find their footing.

Although the first ended with a scoreless draw, the momentum continued to build as Boston were persistent in their attack.

With the press from Boston, Gotham also doubled down and in the 55’ minute, Jaedyn Shaw led the way as she pinged the ball to the top left corner followed by a cross to the center where Esther Gonzalez used a one touch ball to secure the first goal to the back of the net.

As the second half came to a close, Gotham were on the move to double their lead as Rose Lavelle inched closer to the net but the shot was ultimately saved by Murphy.

Boston Makes An Iconic Return to the NWSL

Although the result put the Legacy missed out on three points, their progress also marks a new milestone for the NWSL in achieving a high attendance record.

“It was amazing to see this environment,” said Boston head coach Filipa Patão. I think we need to continue to do that every day and have people like our owners, staff, and players, and fans that want to make a difference inside women’s football. So, for me, it was wonderful to see this stadium and everybody. I’m proud of this team and this work and we are proud of all the work.”

Boston Legacy will face their first match on the road as they take on the Houston Dash on Saturday, March 21.
