Gardner Minshew salary, contract details, cap hit with Arizona Cardinals

The elusive details for the Gardner Minshew contract are finally available, although waiting a little more than a week feels like a lifetime in the atmosphere that exists in the first week of the league year.

Minshew’s one-year deal was widely reported initially as worth $8.25 million, but that quickly became exposed as the apparent “up to” value distributed by his agent with the base terms worth $5.75 million.

That is the accurate figure, but the incentive package that would increase the total by $2.5 million is unknown, although it can be presumed there are significant levels that can be earned based on playing time if that happens.

Most of the contract is guaranteed ($5.14 million), which includes a $2.25 million signing bonus and a full guarantee of his $2.89 million base salary.

There are also $30,000 in per-game active roster bonuses for a max total of $510,000 along with a $100,000 offseason workout bonus.

Minshew played in four games for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, including one start after Patrick Mahomes was injured.
