Nets' Josh Minott reacts to tense game vs. Knicks, Brooklyn's fans

NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets forward Josh Minott has not spent much time with the Nets since coming to the team during the February trade deadline via a trade with the Boston Celtics. Minott's tenure with Brooklyn began with him seeing inconsistent playing time, but now, he is seeing the floor on a regular basis and he is embracing his new environment.

"I wanted that (expletive) so (expletive) bad. I mean, ever since we've been here, it's like every game's an away game," Minott said following Friday's 93-92 loss to Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks. Minott had arguably his best game in a Nets uniform as he finished the contest with 22 points and five rebounds, but Brooklyn lost in part due to a second half where Brooklyn lost 49-42.

"Tonight was just a night to really just stick it to everybody, man. As an organization, as a team, to show people that we got (expletive) here," Minott continued. "Just a sea of blue, sea of orange, every game we play, [we] see [colors] of the other team. I saw it here when I was on the Celtics, but being here, I got nothing but respect for the real fans, like the real Brooklyn fans, shout-out to them."

Minott, 23, is having a solid year during his time with the Nets as he's averaging 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 48.3% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range. Since arriving in Brooklyn, Minott is eighth on the team in points per game, first in three-point percentage, and tied for third in steals per game, showing his impact on both ends of the court.

Minott, who was clearly bothered by the fact that the Nets weren't able to win a game in which they led the Knicks, one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, by as many as 13 points. Minott did everything he could to put Brooklyn in position to beat New York in the Battle of the Boroughs, but it sounds like he is fully-invested in being part of the Nets organization moving forward if his postgame emotion is any indication.
