ESPN says Danny Scudero can make Colorado 'a top-five passing offense'

The Colorado Buffaloes brought in more than 40 transfers this offseason and reshaped several position groups, with one of those being the wide receiver position. Perhaps the biggest addition in that room is San Jose State transfer Danny Scudero.

Scudero was sensational as a Spartan last season, finishing with 88 catches for 1,297 yards and 10 touchdowns. That production was good enough to make him a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist for the best receiver in college football.

ESPN recently released its list of the top Big 12 Conference newcomers, and Scudero was Colorado's selection. The article highlighted Scudero's seemingly perfect fit in Brennan Marion's Go-Go offense.

"In a new offensive system directed by Brennan Marion that prioritizes pace and spacing concepts, Scudero's reliability and playmaking address a specific deficiency the Buffaloes experienced last year: consistent interior production and chain‑moving skills," ESPN's Billy Tucker writes.

What does Danny Scudero unlock in the 2026 Buffs?

Tucker even went as far as to say that Scudero's presence can take the Buffs from "a bottom-five passing offense to a top-five offense in 2026."

He projects as Julian Lewis' primary quick‑game/slot read and the engine for offensive coordinator Marion's RPO and option‑route concepts. He will function as the immediate safety valve on quick progressions, a high‑value target on screens, jets and shallow crossers and a seam threat on play‑action.

Scudero has the potential to be an elite receiver, especially in a system like Marion's that fits him so well. His route-running and ability to beat coverage should complement the skill sets of the Buffaloes' other wide receivers.
