There might be some Philadelphia Phillies fans worried about the team running it back in 2026, but that concern most likely wouldn't involve Kyle Schwarber, who the team re-signed on a massive $150 million five-year deal.

Schwarber is one of the best sluggers in baseball, and the lefty power-hitter is coming off an incredible season where he led the NL in home runs with 56, his career-best.

And looking ahead to the 2026 MLB season, MLB.com's Manny Randhawa shared that 57 MLB.com staff members predicted Schwarber would finish with the second-most home runs in the National League, making his $150M deal worth it in year one.

Kyle Schwarber predicted to have great HR season in 2026

"Schwarber is second on the list of most NL homers since 2021, with 219," Randhawa writes. "... The hulking left-handed slugger homered once every 10.8 at-bats last season, more frequently than anyone in the NL and behind only Raleigh and Judge in MLB."

Schwarber is one of the premier power-hitters in the Major Leagues. It would not be a surprise if he finished with another strong home run total in 2026, and this runner-up prediction wouldn't be a surprise at all.

These same MLB.com staff members predicted Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani to finish with the most home runs in the NL, which isn't much of a surprise either.

If Schwarber could finish with the second-most home runs in the NL, that would be a great sign for the team as they look to get the most out of their window of contention over the next two years.

Schwarber signed a huge $150 million extension with the Phillies over five seasons, which is a lot for a designated hitter.

But if he could have a season like the one he's predicted to have by MLB.com, then this new deal would be worth it for the Phillies. Even if he doesn't lead the league, finishing as the runner-up would still be a great year for Schwarber and the Phillies.
