Sixers vs. Hornets: Final playing status for Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday in what has turned into a hugely important matchup at Spectrum Center. The Sixers will look to earn the tiebreaker with a win and use that to their advantage in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race.

The Sixers will get two key players back against the Hornets as they will welcome back both Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. to the floor. Maxey has not played since March 7, and is returning sooner than expected after the Sixers announced on March 10 that he would be re-evaluated in three weeks. Oubre has not played since March 10, and coach Nick Nurse discussed both.

"They took his other splint off and put a different one on which enabled him to use his shooting hand for a couple days," Nurse first started on Maxey. "I also know they had a Zoom or something with the specialist here in the last couple days as well. So, I guess it’s progressed pretty well."

With both Maxey and Oubre back, one has to wonder if there will be a minutes restriction on either player, but Nurse isn't entirely sure.

"I would say nothing in stone, but also expecting to not make it as normal if that makes sense," he said. "I think it will be some feeling out for conditioning and all that kind of stuff, for sure."

The Sixers and the Hornets will tip off at 6 p.m. EDT from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
