There is no question that the injury status of quarterback Bo Nix is one of the biggest concerns for the Denver Broncos this offseason.

Of course, Nix suffered a fractured ankle in the playoffs that forced him to miss the AFC Championship Game and ultimately led to Denver's season ending.

Nix had surgery in January, but it wasn't clear exactly when he'd be cleared to return.

On Monday, general manager George Paton revealed at the NFL Annual League Meeting that Nix is ahead of schedule and is expected to be ready to go by OTAs (organized team activities), which typically start in late May.

“He’s ahead of schedule,’’ Broncos general manager George Paton said, per Mike Klis of 9News. “He’s running, he’s jumping. Really proud of how he’s attacked rehab. He’s done a great job. He’ll be ready for OTAs.’’

When pressed on whether or not Nix would be able to take on a full workload in OTAs, Paton said he believes that will be the case.

“I believe so,’’ Paton said. “He’s doing great.”

It goes without saying that having Nix for a full offseason is huge for the Broncos and the young signal-caller.

Granted, Jarrett Stidham is a capable backup and would have filled in well for Nix, but there's nothing like having the starting quarterback leading the way.
