Wildcats plate 56 runs in 3-game sweep over Beavers

Mar. 30—WAYNE, Neb. — Wayne State's bats got hot over the weekend against the Bemidji State baseball team.

Hosting the Beavers at the Pete Chapman Complex in Wayne, Nebraska, WSC (18-9, 10-4 NSIC) rolled to a sweep by wins of 11-5, 26-15 and 19-7, all in seven innings.

While Bemidji State's pitching surrendered 56 runs in 19 innings of work, its offense found success at the plate.

Noah Drusch and Matt Filippi doubled in the 11-5 loss. Drusch went yard in the 26-15 defeat, as did Beau Thoma and Jack Feldman. Thoma and Joe Hansen also tripled in the loss.

Drusch homered in the Game 3 loss, and so did Hunter Hayden. Feldman and Thoma each added doubles.

The Beavers are 5-20 this season and 2-12 in NSIC play. They have yet to play a game in Bemidji, but are slated to host Minnesota State for a three-game set April 3-5 at the BSU baseball field, but the games could be moved due to weather and field conditions.
