Michael, the film about the life of one of the greatest entertainers in the world, Michael Jackson, is coming to movie theatres later this month.

The film is headlined by Jafaar Jackson as Michael Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael Jackson.

Miles Teller plays John Branca (Manager), Laura Harrier is Suzanne de Passe, Kat Graham is Diana Ross, and while Larenz Tate plays Berry Gordy.

The film tracks Jackson’s history and ascent to stardom, along with his brothers, under the guidance of his father and care of his mother.

With a budget of over $155 million, no cost is spared to show the scale of Michael’s life and star power, from impeccable focus to the details of his famous attire, to the massive crowds he commanded as a performer.

This Antoine Fuqua-directed film opens in movie theatres on 24 April. In South Africa, you can watch the film at Ster Kinekor and CineCentre cinemas.

Nephew Jaafar Jackson plays Michael

Despite this being his film debut, Jermain Jackson’s 29-year-old son is the actor tasked with bringing the King of Pop to life, and no one is better suited than a blood relative to do so.

Jafaar Jackson was just 13 years old when his uncle, Michael Jackson, died on 25 June 2009.

The actor, dancer, and singer is no novice in entertainment, having released his first single Got Me Singing in 2019 at the age of 23.

He has eight siblings, Jermajesty Jermaine Jackson, being his only full siblings.

His father has five other children Jermaine LaJuane “Jay” Jackson Jr., Autumn Joi, Jaimy, Jeremy Maldonado, Jourdynn Michael.

Through his mother, he is half sibling to Genevieve Jackson and Randy Jackson Jr., who are also his cousins. His mother had a relationship with his uncle Randy Jackson.
