Bengals lose free agent to Giants at position of need

· Yahoo Sports

Lucas Patrick was one of the last Cincinnati Bengals free agents standing.

Now, he’s a member of the New York Giants.

Patrick signed with the Giants to start the week, giving the Bengals just a little less flexibility with their depth. He played in six games for the Bengals last year, starting one.

Granted, if Patrick hadn’t re-signed by this point, it probably wasn’t going to happen. But a 113-game veteran is off the table, regardless.

The Bengals return the same starting five for the first time in the Joe Burrow era next season. That’s after getting high-priority Dalton Risner back under contract.

Cincinnati could be a sneaky candidate to draft a long-term option at offensive tackle as high as No. 10 this year to stay in front of any possible issues. Interior depth needs some help, though Matt Lee and Jalen Rivers are really nice pieces of the puzzle.
