According to ESPN, the incident unfolded Saturday as Mpagi was traveling to the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at BMO Stadium. Along the way, she noticed a woman who had been struck by a car. Without hesitation, Mpagi exited the friends-and-family bus she was riding on and rushed to assist the victim before emergency responders arrived.

Mpagi remained with the injured woman, providing immediate support and ensuring she was not alone during a critical window. She also contacted Winfield Jr. for additional help while waiting for medical personnel. Her involvement did not stop there—Mpagi reportedly stayed by the woman’s side and even accompanied her in the ambulance following the incident.
The moment adds a different kind of spotlight to Mpagi, who has her own athletic background. A former track standout at Rice and the University of Texas, she has maintained a connection to high-level sports environments even beyond her competitive career. Her quick response reflects the kind of awareness and composure often associated with elite athletes.
Winfield Jr., meanwhile, remains one of the NFL’s most accomplished defensive players. A two-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2023, he has served as a key leader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense.
